It’s the Friday Happy for our favorite 1st grade teacher! 🍎👩🏽‍🏫

Natchez, MS is a special small town along the Miss

Natchez, MS is a special small town along the Mississippi River. October in Natchez is almost magical. The cool nights and warm days, the hot air balloons, and you can't forget all the good food!

As a little girl living close to downtown Natchez, the hot air balloons flew right over our house. [kashhhheeerrrrr] When the pilots put the gas on, it's loud! Standing under our magnolia trees in the front yard, we could have conversations with the pilots from their baskets. Fun memories!

I grew up wanting to design a balloon race shirt. I always thought that would be the coolest thing. I've not been chosen - yet. ;)

It’s #FeatureFriday here at 𝐏𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧! I’m so excited! 🌟

I came across this young man’s work yesterday and was blown away. 🤯 Joel “Positive J” [ @artbypositivej ] makes some of the most beautiful and heart inspired art!

Born in 1995 in Ottawa, Canada, Joel (J Positive) Jamensky was diagnosed with Down syndrome. His parents immediately embraced the unexpected adventure they were about to embark on. Joel has developed his own unique artistic perspective which was encouraged by his Mom from a young age. His art has always brought joy to all who see it.

Joel’s Thoughts on His Art:
Art is about life, growing up, and getting older.
My art is very serious to me.
I get my ideas from movies, rock and roll music, and family that I enjoy.
When I am doing my art it feels like I am free, sometimes free falling.
I just want a normal real life because love is real.
My nickname is “J Positive” because I am a positive person.
It makes me feel very good when people like my art.

👉 𝐖𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐮𝐧? 🎉

In addition to his artistic endeavours, Joel also loves to cook, and is proud to have achieved his Kitchen Steward Certificate from Algonquin College. He has worked in multiple professional kitchens, and also considers cooking another form of art. The two years of COVID were a difficult time for Joel, as his long time kitchen job and all his other in-person programs were discontinued. However, he took that opportunity to spend more time on his art, and we were encouraged to launch the Art By J Positive store in February 2022. This has given Joel a newfound sense of pride. ❤️

School is just around the corner! 😳 I can’t b

School is just around the corner! 😳 I can’t believe summer is almost over.

I searched Etsy for school envelopes in hopes of supporting another small business. But all I found were envelopes with icons and doodles and characters on them. I like simple… nothing fit what I was looking for.

So, I made my vision come to life.

Personalized school envelopes with the child’s name and parent/guardian’s name & phone number. These envelopes have blanks for your teacher’s name, your child’s grade, the date, and a few options to place a check mark (and a place to put an amount in case you’re sending money).

These have made sending notes, money, and even doctor excuses to school a lot easier and sooooo much cuter. My daughter’s teacher even said she loved how easy it was for her, too. Win win!
